Greek and Roman has always portrayed Medusa in their art and literature. Who is Medusa?
Medusa: is said to be a very beautiful woman courted by many suitors. She has a magnificent long hair. Raped by Neptune at Athena's temple. Turned into a creature of hideous look with a body and hair transform into snakes. She was killed and beheaded by Perseus.
In Greek methology, there are three snake women, they are Euryale, Stheno and Medusa. The former two are immortal except Medusa.
In some cultures they are believed to be messengers to the underworld. In the Christian religion, the snake symbolize evil and was responsible for adam and eves expulsion from paradise.
In South america they have a winged god snake which they worship. The change in skin or moulting of snake have made them a symbol of renewal or imoortality.
Scientifically snakes have been a useful creature simply because their venom could be the key to treat various circulatory and heart problems.
